A GARDEN LUNCH took place on Sunday 31st August
Mike and Sheila Griffiths kindly invited us to use their beautiful garden for a buffet light lunch.  A marquee had been erected, which ensured the light showers did not spoil the enjoyment of a wonderful array of salads, cold meats and yummy deserts, all of which had been organised by Marie Mudie, in her usual skilful manner.
The raffle of many interesting donated items raised even more money for the Friends. Every one seemed to enjoy the afternoon and as they left several asked when we were doing it all again.

Marie presented Mike and Sheila Griffiths with champagne and chocolates as a small thank you for them opening up their garden for this event.

Our lunch party this year took place amidst this summer's variable weather, but the gods smiled on us.  We are very grateful to Sheila and Mike for allowing us to once again enjoy their generous hospitality.  It was a superb party, regardless of the weather predictions and the grounds and fishponds were as beautiful as ever.  Around 70 members enjoyed a delightful social occasion, snugly ensconced in a marquee, an ideal setting for the lunchtime assembly.
Marie Mudie and her band of helpers are to be congratulated on the smooth running of the variety of victuals offered:  savoury, sweets and coffee.  Healthy eating was put on hold for the day and the wine flowed!  Chatter abounded amidst the occasional 'aeroplane activity' en route to the Bournemouth Air Show.  It was a privilege to enjoy such a peaceful setting on that final Sunday afternoon in August.
Thank you everyone who helped and especial thanks to Ivor and Alan who are the mainstays of so many of our social events.
